Be the Example

You know, I never realized how much God shows up in my life until I started this blog. I used to notice small things like today’s post, but I never really thought of it as a “God thing.” Now, every where that I turn, I hear, see, or just sense something and I know that God is right there. This intro does not have much to do with this post, but I just thought that I would tell you that God is really right next to you. He really does show up when you are willing to allow Him to speak to you! Anyway, I hope you enjoy today’s post!

I walked into my English class for the first time as a freshman expecting to hear all the rules I have heard for 3 years now. Yet, when I walked in, there was something different waiting on me. We did a warm up defining a great classmate or school citizen. We were coming up with adjectives on this subject to put on the door and we came up with some great words. Yet, the highlight of my day came after this…

“Be somebody, who makes somebody, feel like somebody.”

This was part of the “speech” that my teacher had given after our activity. Whoa! This hit me hard. It honestly convicted me because I am not sure how often I live like this. Today I really want to focus on the last part. “Make somebody feel like somebody.”

In today’s world, it’s hard to truly believe that you have a purpose. It’s hard to focus on what Jesus says we are when the world is telling us, or showing us, something completely different. It’s hard to feel accepted when the people around us don’t accept us. School is hard. Work is hard. LIFE IS JUST HARD. Sometimes, people are pretty good at hiding their struggles. They may portray a very happy person, but on the inside, they are completely broken and ready to give up. We don’t always know this as we are walking the halls of our work place or the high school. We don’t know the ones that are really hurting or the ones that just need to know it’s all going to be OK. This is why even a simple smile could brighten someone’s day. That smile might be all that person needs to know that it’s going to work out.

Sometimes we try so hard to please someone that we forget about the simple things. We try so hard to make someone happy that we forget to have a simple conversation with no distractions. We forget to simply smile. We forget about the small random acts of kindness that could make someones day.

With that being said, be the person that makes others feel appreciated, like they are wanted. Be the person who has a conversation with the person that may be looked down on by others. Be the person who is not afraid to shine their light. Be somebody that makes somebody feel like somebody. You never really know what is going on in another person’s life. Any of these simple and small acts of kindness could change someone’s life. Be the example.

Maybe you are that person who needs to know that it’s all going to work out. Maybe you are the one who tries so hard to be happy, but on the inside, you have given up. I want you to know, you are not alone. God is right there next you waiting and wanting to take your hand and guide you on the right path. HE WANTS YOU! Like I said earlier, it’s really hard to believe this when the world is saying something different. In this moment, remember this verse:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. God loves you so much more than you can ever comprehend. Even though you may not realize it now, God has not left you and He never will. No matter what the world tries to tell you, YOU ARE LOVED and never forgotten by the King of all Kings.

This week, I encourage you to be somebody that makes somebody feel like somebody. Maybe for you that’s saying “hi” to someone you don’t normally talk to. Maybe it’s giving someone a hug. Whatever it is, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, and let some one know they are appreciated.

See ya next time beautiful people,

Madi

So true. Recently I took a few minutes to compliment someone I barely knew, the next day she went out of her way to let me know how much she appreciated it. We can make the biggest difference with the smallest act.

Great word. A homeless lady had her picture taken and to the photographer said. Thanks so often I feel invisible. Many folks feel that way. Thanks for reminding me to make others feel special.

Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed it! There are so many people around us everyday that feel this way… stepping out of our comfort zone just a little bit may be the only thing necessary to make someone feel wanted…
